Salusbury Primary Class 5W @WHEEC

Today Class 5W brought the sunshine with them to the Welsh Harp Environmental Education Centre.

They explored the woodland habitat and thought about which creature live there. 5W were lucky enough to see a Spotted Woodpecker in a tree. It was running up and down a branch and sticking it’s tongue into the tiny holes feeding on beetle larvae. The class asked really good questions and wrote notes to help them with their research. The teams worked well together and filmed some interesting reports using the iPod Touch.

Please visit the Class 5W page to watch their Environmental Video reports.

Oakington Manor Class 4RA visit the CLC

Yesterday the rest of Class 4RA came to the CLC at Queens Park.

They had their wellies on and were ready to explore the CLC wildlife garden. They used the iPod Touches to take photos of the plants and features at different angles.  The Fish are beginning to slow down to conserve their energy so the children could watch them swim slowly. Under the stones they found worms, snails and slugs eggs. They even found a tiny slug just hatched from the soft egg sack. Next to the slug eggs were a couple of brown lavare. They are probably beetle larvae. Back at school the children will be using GIMP with Ms Vanderpuye. They will add effects and change their own photographs. Look out for their online gallery on the Oakington Manor Nature Blog.

Gladstone Park Primary report from Gladstone Park

Yet another lucky day because it did not rain on class 5V! They had a long walk up to the top of Gladstone Park to find some interesting locations to film their reports. The class got busy and started filming in their teams, they had only a short time to film so they had to be really focused.

The park is very interesting to the school because there is the ruin of the house built by William Gladstone.

William Gladstone was a Prime Minister of the United Kingdom four times! from 1868-1894.

Salusbury Primary Class 5R visit the WHEEC

It was a very windy Autumn day on Tuesday 29th November. Class 5R arrived with their packed lunches, wellies and waterproof jackets because they were expecting it to rain at any moment. Luckily they stayed dry the whole day. Harry took the class on a woodland walk and told them lots of information, which they used to make their video reports.
